It is stated that creative industries that generate more than $ 2 trillion in income and employ more than 30 million jobs all over the world will make a great contribution to the development of the economies of developing countries. However, when the ratio of total employment in the creative industries examined, Turkey is seen as lagging behind European countries.

Problems such as the absence of targeted policies and institutional structures, insufficiency of financial and managerial skills in business management, weakness of cooperation with industry stakeholders and academic institutions, and insufficient resources for projects constitute an obstacle to the development of creative industries and the competitiveness of SMEs and entrepreneurs operating in this field. does.

Within the scope of the "Emergence of Creative Industries and Transforming the Economy with Innovative Technologies (ECITE)" project, it is aimed to contribute to overcoming these problems with sectoral creative centers and activities within METU. Through these centers, which will be reinforced with all the necessary hardware and software, it is envisaged that SMEs, micro enterprises and entrepreneurs operating in the film production, computer games and wearable technology sectors will be supported with innovative and advanced technologies. In addition, sub-centers such as Audio Visual Systems Research and Application Center (GİSAM), Animation Technologies and Game Development Center (ATOM), Design Factory, which are currently operating in METU, are planned to be offered to the use of target sectors.

Under the project, beneficiaries from targeted sectors will receive consultancy services for product development and commercialization. In addition, mixed training modules and materials will be developed for SMEs, micro enterprises, entrepreneurs and freelancers, online trainings will be provided to participants and face-to-face training sessions will be held in which beneficiaries will participate. In addition, the center beneficiaries, local and international customers, solution partners, universities, industry components and similar creativity centers, aiming to establish professional and cooperation networks, including study visits to EU countries, target group meetings, experience transfer workshops, matchmaking days. Numerous events will be held. In addition, participation in national and international fairs, software competitions and acceleration programs will be ensured.

With the cooperation environment provided by the ECITE project and the sectoral creative center, it is envisaged that SMEs and entrepreneurs will come together with academicians and researchers and benefit from developing new products and services in line with the needs of the target sector and through results-oriented studies. In addition, the adoption of other creative sectors of cooperation and innovation culture will be produced on the ground, and thus, both Ankara increase the value created in the creative industry and all of Turkey in particular, the expansion of employment opportunities and is expected to make more investments.

It is planned to support 3 creative industrial products within the scope of the project. In addition, 22 SMEs are expected to increase their sales and exports and 42 new jobs will be created in supported businesses. It is aimed to establish 14 new businesses within the scope of the same project.
