Cultural and creative industries; With the spread of digital technologies and the institutionalization of intellectual property rights, it stands out as an important element of post-modern economic activities such as advertising, fashion, media and information technologies. It also contributes to the development of value-added knowledge-based products and services through key links with other industrial sectors.
Turkey, despite being one of the economy promising when innovation ability and output are considered, but remained below the desired level of knowledge-based production together in terms of contribution to GDP of the creative industries ranks way below the world average. Considering the issue in İzmir, which is one of the three cities where activities in these industries are carried out most intensively, the creative enterprise culture and ecosystem should be created and strengthened with the opportunities brought by digitalization. In addition, there is a need to establish collaborative ties both within the cultural and creative industries and with other related sectors to expand into R&D, business development, commercialization and international markets.
Cultural and Creative Industries Entrepreneurship Center is established within the scope of the "Create in Izmir" project, which will be implemented within the scope of Izmir University of Economics Creative Economy Application and Research Center (IUE + KREA). With the activities to be carried out through this center, it is aimed that businesses in Izmir and cities in its hinterland will focus on technology, innovation and creativity-oriented work together with stakeholders at the regional level. Thus, it is envisaged that cultural and creative sectors will develop value-added products and services.
Within the scope of the project, various activities will be carried out in order to develop the innovative and creative product capacity of SMEs and entrepreneurs and to strengthen the relationship between cultural and creative industries and the manufacturing industry. In this framework, informative and binaries will be given to the relevant sector organizations, SMEs and entrepreneurs in the target provinces. As creative collaboration activities, contests will be organized to develop innovative solutions, creative projects, software and hardware proposals, as well as online workshops. In addition, entrepreneurship training program will be implemented for existing and potential entrepreneurs.
With the consultancy programs to be carried out, the development process of new products, business model or service will be supported. In addition, it will be ensured that entrepreneurs and investors come together with pitching events to be held. During the project, integrated marketing communication, public relations and promotional activities will be carried out to encourage the creative entrepreneurship ecosystem with the creative center model. In this context, in addition to the International Design Competition on the digital platform, the International Cultural and Creative Industries Biennial will be held in Izmir, bringing together ecosystem stakeholders, including companies, entrepreneurs and investors.
As a result of the activities of the "Create in Izmir" project for cultural and creative industries, it is expected that new businesses will be established, employment opportunities will increase, and the sales and export figures of the supported businesses will increase. With the potential of the project to reveal in these industries, it is envisaged that it will contribute to sustainable development and the economic integration of the region with competitive growth in İzmir and its surroundings.
Within the scope of the project, it is planned to support 2 creative industrial products, while 60 SMEs are aimed to increase their sales and exports. It is also planned to establish 20 new businesses and create 60 new jobs in supported businesses.
