The composite material and technical textile sectors, the main production outputs of which are used in common areas, are among the top value-added sectors and their market values are increasing day by day. As of 2018, the composite materials market in Turkey reached 1 billion euros, which lowers costs and increases productivity for transportation to the automotive, energy and construction sectors is being used more and more. Our country, which ranks 16th in the world in the production of technical textiles, realizes 1.5% of the world's exports, especially by providing inputs to the automotive and transportation sectors.
Composite materials and technical textile products are mainly produced in the Marmara Region. More than 70% of approximately 1200 technical textile enterprises operate in the Marmara Region and 25% in Bursa. However, despite the improvement in the market, the importance of community service for two adjacent sectors (prototyping, industrial design, modeling, etc.) Offering a structure together, nor in Turkey's Bursa.
Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, by completing this deficiency will increase Turkey's competitiveness in the sector of technical textiles and composite materials "Composites and Technical Textile Prototyping and Application Center" is building. The project, which aims to increase the prototyping, design and modeling capabilities of SMEs operating in the composite materials and technical textile sectors in Bursa, also aims to create a fully integrated cluster for the two sectors.
Within the scope of the project, the application center, which will carry out the tests of newly developed products and the design of scenarios for mass production, will provide training and consultancy services to SMEs; It will activate the joint production infrastructure required to produce low-cost and high-performance composite materials and technical textiles.
In order to strengthen the Bursa Technology Coordination and R&D Center, the 12.000 m2 BUTEKOM building, which will host the Textile and Technical Textile Center of Excellence and Advanced Composite Materials Research and Excellence Center, was built with the support of Bursa Eskişehir Bilecik Development Agency (BEBKA). . After the necessary equipment for the facility is procured, service units will be operational and 3D design, modeling, prototyping, testing, analysis, consultancy and training services will be provided.
In the second leg of the project, cluster formation will be supported for composite materials and technical textile sectors in Bursa. First of all, "value chain analysis" will be conducted to determine the potential synergy of the cluster and to reveal the positions of the cluster members in the value chain; Based on the analysis, a roadmap including the governance structure, strategies and action plan will be prepared. In line with the road map, platforms where open innovation partnerships are established for the needs of SMEs operating at different levels in the value chain will be established and 3 matching workshops will be conducted for the two sectors.
At the end of the project, it is envisaged that 100 SMEs will benefit from the common facilities of the center and 100 SMEs from training and consultancy services. It is expected that 50 SMEs supported within the scope of the project will reduce their input costs, 25 SMEs will increase their sales and exports, and 3 SMEs will initiate environmentally friendly investments. Throughout the project, it is planned that 100 SMEs will benefit from design and prototyping services and 50 SMEs will benefit from test and analysis services. With the possibilities of the project, it is aimed to create 25 new businesses, to establish 2 research partnerships to develop innovative products, to prototype 5 new products and to commercialize 3 products successfully.
Composite Materials and Technical Textiles Prototyping and Application Center, affordable, will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of high-performance technical textiles and composite materials in the manufacturing area of Turkey by supporting the production.
