  • Transformation to Technical Textile in Denizli “TTT in Denizli”

Traditional textiles with aesthetic and decorative features are replaced by technical textiles with high performance characteristics. In 2014, world technical textile exports reached 125 billion USD, doubling the value of home textile exports. With the help of production in Denizli home textiles in the world 4, The EU's 2nd largest supplier of Turkey's global textile industry value chain positioning opportunities the production in order to capture the added value that is higher and needs into developing technical textiles.

Due to the high costs and difficulties of SMEs in transforming their industrial production individually, the Denizli Chamber of Commerce is initiating an initiative for the clustering of technical textiles and conducts the "Transformation of Technical Textiles in Denizli Project". The project, which aims to create a technical textile capacity in Denizli with its common use facility and clustering initiative, aims to realize a transformation from traditional textiles to technical textiles by increasing the competitiveness of SMEs in the field.

The project provides consultancy services that will facilitate the transformation of the production of SMEs into technical textiles. In addition, it establishes a pilot plant for product development based on experimental learning and supplies machinery and equipment to three main technical textile production areas (fiber processing, surface shaping, finishing) for common use.

At least 50 SMEs will benefit from the common use facility established as a result of the project, and 100 SMEs will benefit from consultancy and training services. 30 SMEs will reduce their input costs and 30 SMEs will increase their sales or export level. Thanks to the project, 5 new businesses will be established, 13 new jobs will be created in the supported businesses. A clustering initiative will be created with the help of the value chain analysis and road map prepared within the scope of the project. The technical textile cluster will also be supported in networking through national and international study visits.

Members of the cluster initiative gives thanks to new capacity and opportunities "in Denizli Technical Textiles Transformation Project" which, as an example for other sectors in Turkey is expected to inspire converted competitiveness and innovation.
