Malatya Dried Apricot Licensed Warehouse and Exchange

Dry Apricot has a huge economic value for Malatya since it is produced in intensive quantities. However it is lack of high competitive advantage due to the insufficient number of cold storage facilities in the region, the inadequate storage conditions in the existing ones, the high energy costs of the cold storages and the price fluctuations resulting from supply and demand imbalances.
Thanks to the apricot licensed warehouse that will be established under this project, which is developed to increase the competitiveness of the region, the dried apricot will be stored in healthier conditions and presented to the market in longer periods.

Electricity will be supplied by solar energy. Products can be stored under appropriate conditions, in cold and freezing storages ,without losing their quality. Thus, if the producers make use of the licensed warehouse, they will be able to present their products to the market whenever they want, without having any lost.

The apricot producers will be able to sell their products at any time through the spot exchange which will be established within the scope of the project for purchase and sale operations. Price stability will be ensured since dry apricots can be marketedthrough several monthsrather than a certain and short period of time. Thus, both producers, sellers and consumers will be able to deal in a better market conditions.

As well as licensed warehouses and spot exchanges, producers, will also be able to benefit from machines and equipment for processing and packaging that will be offered for common use. The project will also carry out activities to increase cooperation among SMEs operating in the production and processing of apricots and to increase their competitiveness.

With the project, it is aimed to increase the income of the producers, to encourage quality in productionand to increase the amount of contribution to national economy by reducing the loss in storage.
