Horizon 2020 is the new Research and Innovation Framework Program of the EU, which is being implemented between 2014 and 2020, with a budget of 80 billion Euros allocated. For the national coordination of the Horizon 2020 programme, The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) is appointed.
Considering the performance of Turkey in the Framework Programs for R&D activities, an increase in the amount of resources taken from the program can be seen in years. However, the participation rate of SMEs in the Program and university-industry cooperation are not at the desired level.
The overall objective of this project is to ensure that Turkey benefits more from the Horizon 2020 and the Horizon European programmes and gets the maximum use of these funds. In addition, by increasing the share of Turkish Research Area (TRA) in the Horizon 2020, the project aims to facilitate the integration into the European Research Area. Within the scope of the project, activities such as project application writing trainings, project market activity, national advisory group meetings are carried out to raise awareness about Horizon 2020 and other future European Union Framework Programs. Moreover, in order to increase the capacity of TÜBİTAK, training on needs analysis, intellectual property rights, access to finance and study visits to Europe are organized.
Implementation area of the project covers whole Turkey, primarily Ankara and Istanbul. The target groups of the project are the stakeholders of Turkey Research Area; academic circles, researchers, SMEs, public institutions and NGOs.
