Project provides concrete steps for natural stone quarries and workshops in our province to make companies keep up with the modern technology, and work more efficiently and higher capacity with less waste. The construction began in 2014, following the signature of Operational Agreement for the project in 2012, and it was completed in 2015. Supply and installation for machines and equipment were completed in 2016. The facility began serving officially on April 1, 2017. Within the scope of the project, we also solved the problem of finding qualified employees, who are required for this sector. On the other hand, the facility, with 10 thousand m² closed area in total, has the capacity to raise the heat of the stone to 4°C, when the weather conditions are below minus 25°C and do not allow the stone processing This closed area comprise 40% of the total facility area. Thanks to these working conditions, stone can be processed throughout the whole year. Previously companies had to give a break in winter time due to weather conditions. This facility has many equipment and machineries, which can be used by the the companies of this sector. Moreover, some of the machinery and equipment, necessary for the drilling works that quarry operators have to perform prior to entering the natural quarry area, are also provided within the scope of this project. Not only Bayburt natural stone but also all kinds of natural stones (marble, travertine, tuff etc.) that are unique in this area, have contributed to the economic growth of the region. This facility is the only one of this nature in the region. Our project has the capacity to satisfy the needs in natural stone sector both in Bayburt and in neighbouring provinces such as Erzurum, Erzincan, Kars, Ardahan, Trabzon, Rize and Gümüşhane. The facility, established within the framework of this project continue to operate in natural stone sector with all its available machines and equipments . By virtue of this project, in less than six months, local firms start to export for the first time. In addition, through the attractiveness created by this project, 10 new natural stone quarry license applications were accepted.
