The Circular Economy Workshop for SMEs was held on 10 June 2021 as part of the COSME Turkey Project. The general purpose of the circular economy for SMEs, resource efficiency and waste reduction were discussed from a value chain perspective. The workshop started with the opening speeches of Mr. Selim Serkan ERCAN, Head of KOSGEB EU and Foreign Relations Department. Mr. Ercan underlined the benefits of the workshop by stating that the European Green Consensus document, which is based on the climate change targets of the European Union, supports sustainability and circular economy. Afterwards, Mr. Bülent Özcan, General Manager of Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation of the Presidency of the European Union, stated that rapid adaptation to change and the global world will bring success in trade and emphasized that the elements of the European Green Consensus, sustainability and Circular Economy Model were underlined in the Eleventh Development Plan (2019-2023). . He stated that it is aimed to emphasize these three main issues during the preparation phase of the European Union projects. The workshop continued with the COSME Program presentation by Pınar Işın, KOSGEB EU Coordination Manager and COSME Turkey Project Coordinator. Mr. Işın informed the participants about the details of the program. He underlined the achievements achieved within the scope of the program and gave information about the realizations of our country.
Our instructors, who have very important experience and expertise in their fields; Ms. Ferda İşevi Ulutaş, Ms. Münevver Bayhan, Ms. Beyhan Özdemir shared her valuable experiences and knowledge with the participants. They gave detailed information on what is the circular economy, circular economy business models, prominent value chains and application examples, and industrial symbiosis as a circular business model.
Interactive knowledge and experience was shared between the trainers and the participants in the workshop, which was attended by an intense participation. We thank the representatives of the relevant institutions/organizations for their participation in the workshop which was successfully completed.
