An intensive period to go through with all parties for the implementation of 11 projects with a total budget of 62.5 million euro
The technical evaluation stage of the latest call for proposals that the Ministry of Industry and Technology announced on 1st of April 2019 within the framework of Competitive Sectors Programme which is co-funded by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey has been completed.
The new call for proposals which targeted project applications from 81 provinces of Turkey was opened under two titles: “Creative Industries” and “Research and Development” and project applications were accepted which contribute to increasing efficiency in the industry, to support the commercialization of innovative products and ideas, and to reduce the current budget deficit.
Within this framework, through the selected projects, it is aimed to reveal successful examples on a global scale by increasing the technological knowledge of entrepreneurs and researchers, particularly Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) operating in the manufacturing industry, supporting innovative production methods, and design and branding activities.
As the call for proposals received much higher interest in comparison to its allocated budget -namely 123 applications with a total value of 473 million euros-; a detailed and comprehensive evaluation was made and the process is resulted with identification of 11 successful project applications that match with eligibility criteria for support.
In regards with Creative Industries that become more and more important in sustainable development to create an environment to enable individual talents to turn into economic added value through the manufacturing industry, 5 projects from Ankara, İstanbul, İzmir and Kütahya are to be supported. The projects with a total budget of 19.2 million euros cover areas such as industrial design, game and animation technologies, digitalization and creativity ecosystem and development.
In the framework of Research and Development, which is expected to add significant contribution to competitiveness ability of Turkey, a total of 43.4 million euro is to be provided for 6 projects from Ankara, İzmir, İstanbul and Kocaeli. The projects that are entitled to be supported are expected to contribute to the overall competitiveness of Turkey, from automotive to software industries, layered manufacturing to pharmaceutical and medical devices, and digital transformation of SMEs to the development of strategic products.
